seventy years are fulfilled, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation” (v 12). The other passage from Jeremiah focuses upon the hope of return from Babylonian exile. It says, “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place” (29:10).
